The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has issued a rainfall forecast for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, covering the period from August 13 to August 16, indicating varying precipitation across different zones over the next 72 hours.
For the 24-hour period ending 8:30 a.m. on August 14, most GHMC areas are expected to receive light to moderate rain. The forecast shows isolated pockets in Hayathnagar mandal potentially receiving higher rainfall between 15.6 mm and 64.5 mm.
Between 8:30 a.m. on August 14 and 8:30 a.m. on August 15, the eastern and northeastern parts of the city, including Gajularamaram, Quthbullapur, Alwal, Kapra, Malkajgiri, Sainikpuri, Uppal, Hayathnagar, and parts of LB Nagar, are projected to record moderate rainfall. Central and western sectors are likely to see comparatively lower precipitation.
For the 72-hour forecast, valid until 8:30 a.m. on August 16, rainfall is expected to cover most GHMC circles. Moderate showers are likely in areas including Serilingampally, Rajendranagar, Mehdipatnam, Charminar, Malakpet, and other southern and western parts of the city, while a few northeastern locations may receive lighter rain.
Officials advised residents to monitor updates, as rainfall intensity may vary locally. Commuters are urged to account for potential traffic disruptions during peak showers.
